The Speeding Ticket

There are moments in a DD wife/TiH's life.  We all have them ... and don't try to tell me you don't! :)

Yep.  Those moments.

Those moments where your heart pounds in your chest so fast you think it's going to burst.  Blood rushes to your ears and your stomach drops to your feet.

Those "I'm soo in trouble" moments.

I had one of those moments yesterday.

I emptied the mailbox.  An everyday occurrence.  No biggie ... except for what it contained.  An unfamiliar looking envelope.  It didn't look like a regular bill so I thought I better open it pronto and what did I see?

Yep

A Police infringement notice for speeding.  A fine!  OMG ... No, it can't be!  Rick is going to kill me ... or at least my backside!

After panicking for a bit I then studied the details on the notice (date, time, location etc) and slowly started breathing again.

It was Rick not me!!  I was sure of it!

Ha!!

I then started to shake my head and I confess to having a little laugh to myself.  Yes with relief but also the irony of the situation.

I phoned Rick to give him the good bad news.  I confess part of me relished telling him.  Is that un-submissive of me?  Mean even?

I told him all the details.  It was you! I said.  After talking for a little while he said "Well, I guess we accept it was me" followed later by "You're just glad it wasn't you" ... uh, ya think??

Fortunately the speed was minimally over the limit and the fine small.  In fact, more than anything we are slightly annoyed they issued it ... but I guess the law is the law.  So we grudgingly pay it and that's the end of it. (I should clarify that it was my car being driven at the time of the infringement which is registered in my name.  Hence, the infringement was issued to me).

Now, of course if it had have been my fine we all know how that would have ended up!  Unfair I say!

Fess up.  You all thought this was going to be a tale of how I got my tail burnt for getting a speeding ticket.  Am I right? :)

  4. I was lucky since the only speeding ticket I ever received in my life was when in my 40s. The judge couldn't believe that was my only ticket!
I bet you were beaming when Rick walked in the door!

Yes, there certainly was a certain amount of ... smugness? on my part. I know, my bad Lol

  5. We got one of those in the mail too. Having been ticketed for speeding a couple of times, Ray was already telling me he was not taking the test for me again (which he did the last time) and there was a picture - and guess what it wasn't me. YEAH.

    Happy for you.

  6. Roz! Angels float from place to place...why on EARTH would we get a speeding ticket?

Hmmm....maybe we should all push for some kind of 'discount' coupon on something when the men mess up? To be used by us at a later date? Yeah I know ttwd isn't Fair ...pffft

I like a Willie's ideas. We should get a discount card when the men mess up (and get caught)! ---- something tells me this would never work!

  9. LOL Roz...my stomach dropped and my tushie was cringing! I just knew you were gonna get a barn burner! Around here, the only tickets you get in the mail are traffic light tickets...speeding, etc. are issued when an officer pulls you over so at least we know we got a ticket!

So happy it wasn't you but since it would not have gone well for you if you had been driving, in all fairness, I do believe Rick should grant you some kind of prize...special night out, get out of jail (spanking) free card, etc. You get the idea. ;)

    Blessings...

  10. Omg ok my heart dropped reading the title lol

I've only ever had two speeding tickets. One my dad came to visit and arrived a lot earlier than expected ( I hadn't seem him in over a year) and I got a ticket after I picked him up from the airport and on our way home, talking leasurly and then YES the dreaded flash and my dad was not pleased and told me so. I tried to play it down and tried to convince him that as long as we all shall live Balu doesn't ever need to find out. Well as soon as we walked through the door, he looks at Balu and say " well your wife just got caught speeding " well thanks a lot father dear, of only he knew what happened to my poor backside after his little confession :(

The second time, I was driving an English car, in Germany and yes the dreaded flash, fortunately the cameras are set to take a pic of the driver and seeing as my daughter was sat on the left side, the person looking at those pics would have seen a 9 year old driving and there was nothing they could proof, I got away with that one haha

Now here's the tricky thing, it's Balu who brings the speeding tickets home and has lost his license a few times and had to pay a huge fine to be able to carry on driving because of his work. Fair? No not really but hey so is a DD wife's life :)

I'm really glad it wasn't your backside on the line :)

    Hugs x

  12. Oh, Roz.... what glad it was not you .. I have already planned to skip the "description" of the action for your "crime." (Would affect me mentally for the whole day ... lol ...).

Roz, events like this makes it even harder for me to think that DD is any good :: ((((

What if it happens to you next time. How can Rick punish you when he did not receive any punishment for the same offense? He must also find that it is not fair.

No, ladies. A dinner or flowers is not enough for Rick to get rid of debt. (According to me .. lol.)

    1. Hi Mona, I guess the thing is that there are consequences for both our actions, our consequences are just different. Rick is accountable to me just as I am to him.

I'm not actually sure what would have happened at the ticket have been mine given the circumstances ... the location and fact that the speeding was minimal.

  13. Oh my gosh Roz, you had me going! In this situation I would seriously want a "get out of jail free card" or something like that. I like starting that "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" conversation with my husband but shockingly, it always goes awry. Maybe just keep that little grin inside and ignore me completely.

Funny how those conversations don't seem to go over very well isn't it? I have actually mentioned to Rick that a number of friends here think I should get a 'get out of jail free card' :) Surprisingly, he didn't say much!

  15. Hi Roz,

Yes, I thought it was you.

My first impulse was that I would have silently paid the fine and not confessed, it it had been me. But then, Ron thinks I drive too slowly, so he might have been proud of me for getting a speeding ticket.

Ron might have been proud LoL. I have never actually had a speeding ticket. Lord only knows how because I do speed! There's no way I could have silently paid it. I would have ended up fessing up eventually, which would have been worse.

  16. We had the exact same thing happen! I understand the fear, though I've never gotten a ticket, ever. I don't know what would happen if I did , I guess it depends. My husbands ticket was for something like 4 MPH over the speed limit, a little fine too, but really...I agree it's a bit annoying! Glad you stayed out of trouble

  17. LOL.

Had that happen and how I loved telling P it was him. I still got spanked because I was in the car and I should have told him he was going over limit. If I'd told him he was driving too fast, I would have gotten spanked for being a bad seat driver:)

    Have a great weekend.

I don't have a problem with the inequity either. As you said, it may not seem completely fair, but it is how we have agreed our relationship will work. That doesn't necessarily mean there are no consequences for his actions either, because there are. There are just different.

I'm not actually sure what would have happened had the ticket have been mine, given the circumstances.
