I just want to say a huge thank you to Jan and to all of you who have been in contact. I am deeply humbled, overwhelmed and once again reminded just how wonderful this community is. I can't express how much it means to have your support at a time like this.
Things are slowly returning to normal...well semi normal but are not being helped now by torrential rain and strong winds to hamper the clean up process and disrupt transport again. Weather and slip related this time.
Fortunately, I don't have to go anywhere today as work is once again closed to enable clean up. We should be back to normal transmission tomorrow, depending on weather and transport I guess.
Rick and I are ok and fortunately haven't suffered any damage at home, but is has been a very scary couple of days and I am still feeling a little unsettled in the knowledge that the after shocks are continuing. Fortunately for me I haven't felt any in a while now...touch wood! They were pretty constant immediately following the main shock.
Thank you so much blogland. You are awesome ! :)
It is a great community. I so wish we could all meet in person someday. Um... if you're through with the rain please send it here. We're fighting fires. If it's not chickens, it's feathers.
ReplyDeleteHi PK, I so wish we could meet in person too. I read about the fires on Sunny's blog. I so wish I could send you our rain. Sending positive thoughts and prayers.

Roz
Thanks for the update, Roz. So very happy you and Rick are safe and didn't suffer any damage. Sending prayers and positive energy that all stays safe, the rains ease off and clean up is quick.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings...Cat
Thanks so much Cat, rain has eased off a bit for now, back to drizzle. Yay. Apparently back to work tomorrow with the lifts not working and oh, we've also been told not to worry about the cracks we will see. Assurances they are superficial. Hmm

Relieved to know you are all okay. Wishing all those effected a speedy return to normality.
ReplyDeletehugs Del
Thanks so much DF. Seems chaos trying to get anywhere at the moment due to road closures, more from flooding and slips. Maybe I won't try going to work tomorrow :)

Roz
Good to hear everything is settling down now Roz. Hope the rain eases soon so the clean up can start. Take care. Sending positive vibes your way.
ReplyDeleteHugs Lindy xx
Thank you so much Lindy, the rain has settled for now, but more on the way. Will be interesting to see what it is like in the city tomorrow. Transport and roadclosures, mainly due to weather issues are the biggest hurdle at the moment.

Hi Roz, I am glad you are all okay. I have to say it is times like this that we realise just how great Blogland is. I was just the first one to stick my oar in, we are all worried for you. I hope things settle down soon,
ReplyDeletelove Jan, xx
Hi Jan, you're right, it is times like this where blogland shines. I can't thank you enough for being there and for the lovely post. It means so much to both of us.

Roz
I'll build on what Sunny said, you are an amazing, supportive person, and embody what the essence of the blogging community should be Roz. It is little wonder why so many reached out to you and were concerned for you and Rick.
ReplyDeleteHugs<- and I know you know the significance of that..LOL
willie
Willie my dear friend, thank you so much for your lovely words and for your support these last few days. It's been wonderful having more opportunity to chat over the last few days too...a bonus out of it all :)

Really glad to hear you are OK, Roz. I do agree that this is a remarkable community of men and women. Whoever knew that there would come a day when people on the other side of the world would be sending prayers especially to you! Take good care of yourself and Rick, too.
ReplyDeleteSending Hugs Downunder,
Ella
Thank you so much Ella, it is truly wonderful how we come together and rally and support each other from around the world. That's what I love about this community.

Thank you so much Ronnie, still a ton of after shocks which could continue for a considerable time, but fortunately a lot we don't notice. For now mother nature is keeping us on our toes.

Roz
Hi Roz, :) So glad that things continue to be okay for you and Rick! I hope that the aftershocks are over and done with, and that things are getting cleared up, and are now safe there.
ReplyDeleteYou and Rick have been in my prayers non-stop! I agree with you. This is a pretty awesome community. We are all so lucky to be a part of it all. We are also lucky to have you front and centre, with your kindness, and supportive words found from post to post, all over the place! I don't know how you get around like you do! Must be those Cluedo moves! Lots of hugs and love,
<3 Katie
Hi Katie, thank you so much for your lovely words :) as I said to Ronnie the after shocks are continuing and will for some time but many aren't felt. It will be much better once all the slips etc from the torrential rain we have also had are cleared and road are fully open again and public transport is fully operational again.
DeleteI certainly feel lucky to be part of this wonderful community. LoL re the Cleudo moves, perhaps I should try chess lol.

Roz
Roz, it's good to hear from you again. I'm glad you weren't hurt, and a few days at home is probably what you need to get over the shock.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Hermione
Thanks so much Hermione, definitely needed a couple of days at home! Went back to work Wednesday and it has been unnerving being back in the city and building and also seeing the damage in the city. During the week a number of buildings have been evacuated and deemed unsafe.
DeleteThe quake has been upgraded to 7.8 and we can expect after shocks to continue for some time and some of them quite big.

Roz
So pleased to hear you are okay! Down here in Southland we barely even felt it, and have been shocked looking at all the pictures in the media.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you, and hoping those aftershocks and weather settle down so the affected areas can concentrate on getting their lives back together!
Thank you so much Kelly, so glad you didn't feel it, be glad! lol.
ReplyDeleteThe weather has improved over the last few days. We had some major slips in our area from the flooding which causes road closures. The road only opened again today.
As for after shocks, still feeling very uneasy.
Hugs
Roz
Oh, my goodness. I am so glad you both are okay!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Lea, the support from everyone here has been truly wonderful and humbling.
