Hello blogland!

Hello everyone !  You can pick yourselves up off the floor now, yes it's me lol.

Gosh, it's been so long, waay too long! I'm sorry I have been awol, I have continued to read and comment though. Some of you have been asking and gently prodding me to post...Thank you :) I suppose some might say I should be spanked for neglecting the blog. Sadly, there is little chance of that happening.

I don't have much excuse except life taking over and the fact that writing posts on a tablet is just painful. That, coupled with not knowing what to say given the lack of ttwd here, which has been the case for some time now.

Where to start? I  can't believe how quickly this year is flying by! As some of you know, the year began with Rick recovering from major heart surgery then as soon as he recovered I ended up very ill from a viral infection which took almost two months to recover.

We can't believe it is almost a year since Rick's surgery. Wow! He is doing fantastic and although he has basically recovered the body is continuing to heal and he still has some discomfort. Did I mention his impressive scars? Oh and he occasionally sets off shop metal detectors. Fun!

There have been changes for both of us on the work front too with more to come. With everything that's gone on this year we are both more than happy at the moment to just 'be' and enjoy each other. There have been the odd "do you want it back?", "I don't know, do you?" conversations though. We have continued to have some light spanky action for fun on occasion. I could definitely do with more of that! But, you know, I'm really not sure about the rest, I'm conflicted. Part of me thinks I want it back and part of me doesn't. Perhaps because it has been so long.

In other news, long time readers may recall that Rick is a huge Bruce Springsteen fan and that we were able to see him here in gud ole NZ a couple of years ago. It was something we never thought would happen and a dream come true. The fantastic news is that he and the band are coming back our way next February. Woohoo! The only thing is, there will be two concerts in two different cities and neither of them our city. One of them happens to be Rick's home city though which is cool. We are going to go to both and have our tickets because, wrll, did I mention Rick is a huge fan? lol. It's going to be manic traveling to two different cities within a few days of each other but well worth it.

On the family front Mum and Dad are continuing to cope extremely well with Mum's dementia. I honestly don't know sometimes how Dad does it day in day out. It can be hard and draining some times just visiting. It's funny, each visit is different. Good days and not so good days. Mum had her birthday fairly recently and it wasn't a good day for her. Dad commented as such and she replied it's the shock of turning 76 lol. Maybe it wasn't such a bad day after all!

We are now in spring here. Well supposedly. The weather is quite fickle with overall mild temperatures but showrrs and rain off and on and awful winds.

We wait with baited breath for the outcome of the US Presidential election this week which will be Wednesday here.

I see Love our Lurkers day is coming up. I guess you could say anyone who has visited here over the last few months is a lurker, since there hasn't been anything to comment on. I always enjoy this event. Not sure yet if I will post, but will definitely enjoy visiting everyone.

Hope you are all doing well.

  1. Wow...what a wonderful treat to start my day with..a post from Roz:)! Happy to read that your health problems are mostly behind you....it does serve as a strong reminder to be thankful for each day.
Two Bruce concerts!...that will be some trip...enjoy it all! Sorry to hear about your mum, I am helping a friend with dementia....you never know what to expect..and some days are heartbreaking. I will keep your mom dad in my prayers.
It has been wonderful having you comment around blog land, let's us know you are mostly good, but a blog entry is so much better...hint..hint!

We are so excited about getting to see Bruce again. Thank you for your kind words and prayers for my parents. Dealing with dementia is like a box of chocolates as Forrest said...you never know what you're gonna get I think lol.

  2. Ohhhhhhhh I get to be first...yay me! LOL..

After my Dad had open heart surgery ( he was 53 at the time, and to think I thought him old...LOL) he said, " Look what they have done to my beautiful body" in response to his railroad track type scars. All tongue and cheek of course. Happy to hear Rick is better, though understandable that his body is still feeling its effects. Hopefully there are good effects too! I figure it was the universe just getting him ready for 2 concerts of Bruce's next year!

As for maybe/maybe not do I want this back, I would hazard a guess it is because it is has been so long. (As I sit here, Dr. Armchair Physiologist) whenever I miss something I tend to convince myself that I don't. I once read somewhere, pay attention to what you are paying attention too. Maybe that will help you find your answers. Maybe you should start at the beginning and reread your blog, both of you. See if that stirs up any emotions of longing. Perhaps after plan a weekend of D/s. Real submitting etc...see how it goes. Try it on for size. Of course we both know there are great emotional risks involved reopening Pandora's Box, but maybe it will give you some clarity. Or you know totally screw every thing up! LOL

Regardless I am happy to get to comment on your blog for a change as opposed to just replying to you on mine!

Seriously, thank you so much for your comment, as I said to Abby, I am blown away by everyone.

You have given me much food for thought and I agree, I think the longer we are without the more we don't need it...or so we tell ourselves perhaps. Pay attention to what you are paying attention to...that makes a lot of thought. If nothing else it would be fun to read through the blog again lol.

Thank you again, I will definitely ponder. Hope we manage a coffee/tea date soon. I'm sorry, I think I missed you recently.

      um..no hug? lol

  3. Dear Roz,

So happy to see you pop up on my roll!

Really glad to hear Rick is doing well and you two have found a renewed rhythm. And super cool about going to the concerts!

Maybe just being and enjoying each other and kind of having a honeymoon stage with the occasional spanking action, is just what you need. Downtime can be sweet too. Maybe you'll come to discover a newer aspect, maybe one that is more sensual in nature and richer for the experience of time.

Dementia is so hard. I hear you.

    1. Hi Bleue, as I said above, I am feeling very blessed by the lovely comments I have received. Thank you so much :)

We are content with the downtime and just 'being' right now, though as Willie said, is it a case of having been without for so long now? I am definitely pondering that. But, for now, with the challenges so far this year at least it feels right for now, if that makes sense!

Dementia is a stinking disease for sure!

  4. So surprised and happy to see you come up on my blog roll. I know you are one of my most faithful readers on a blog that has nothing to do with TTWD anymore either. I commiserate with you on that score but it is what it is. I will still enjoy coming to visit just as you do.
Enjoy life and take each day as it comes is the best thing we can do for ourselves. Looking forward to your next post.

The friendships made here go beyond ttwd, though for some reason there is always the feeling of having to have something on topic (so to speak) to say.

I guess on that score we both take what we can get when we can get it lol

  7. HI Roz, how lovely to hear from you. A nice surprise. I think maybe on the do you miss it thing I reckon if we do without for long enough then the "need" is lessened. As long as you get some spanky fun and you are both healthy perhaps that is good enough for now. Have fun at Springsteen, our youngest is a guitarist and would definitely be jealous of that gig!

It feels good at the moment, though I could do with more spanky fun lol.

How special to hear from you today. I love when you visit my blog and leave a comment, but it's nice to come to your "house" too!

This post is honest and thoughtful. I often wonder if life will interfere someday and ttwd will take a back seat. Your writing paints a very loving picture of you and Rick. Maybe even if we are not living ttwd, we still get to take that wonderful feeling of closeness with us. It sounds like you have managed that well.

  11. Hi, Roz,
This is my first times here, I believe, but you have been so kind to come visit me that I felt it would be only fair to come pay you a visit as well.

I'm glad overall you are in a good place even if ttwd is not currently a factor in your relationship. I would like to say that your sweet words that you posted on my blog this morning are very encouraging and supportive of ttwd. I love your use of the words, "deeper connection". Maybe it's just as scary to get back into it as it is to begin for the first time? I will need to ponder that a bit.

I have been looking for a new blog to tackle for my reading. I believe yours may be an excellent resource to start. Thank you again for being so kind to welcome me in blogland. Your words of support mean a great deal.

Dementia is such a cruel disease and does change all the time. Its surprising how much they actually do take in when you think they're having a bad day. My thoughts are with your family going through it with your Mum.

  19. Hi there Roz! :) How WONDERFUL to see you posting! You are such a huge part of blogland- saying hi, giving love and support all over the place! You are so loved! It is so nice to see you posting from your house!

So glad to hear that you and Rick are feeling well, after what sounds like some tough health issues. It must have been the year for those kinds of things. Hopefully 2017 is healthy for all!

Oh how fun about the Bruce concerts! Sounds like you and Rick will have a blast. When the fun commotion starts, as you head from place to place to view the concert, maybe Rick can remind you "Baby you were Born to Run"! Can he sing? LOL!

I'm so sorry that your mom has her dementia. I understand completely. It is a hard thing on the parent that does not have it- what blows my mind is the love and the nonstop caring that one is witness to, when visiting. With Dad, I would visit often. I always got to go home- even if it was only for a couple of days or so. Mom did not. I give your dad so much credit. It is not an easy part of loving well. You know, as crazy as things were with my dad, those were some of the best times that I ever had with him. Filter gone. Funny things come out of nowhere- like your mom's birthday comment. Stay strong! You and your parents are in my thoughts and prayers.

As for ttwd, I always go back to this thought... spanking or not, we have learned such an incredible amount things about how to love more intimately; how to be more loving; how to work together; how to make each other feel loved and valued; how to tell each other what we need; how to communicate those needs in a respectful way; and so much more. It's just a hunch, but my guess is that you and Rick have taken so much of that with you to where you are now. Sounds like you are enjoying life and each other. When, and if you want it, your dynamic will always be there for you... You and Rick will know when and if the time is right, I am guessing.

So good to see a post from you! I think your Cluedo board says Roz & Rick, at 2 stadiums, watching Bruce, with love! Many hugs and love,

What you said about ttwd, you are spot on, we have learned many of these things and though the physical aspects of ttwd may be absent, the other wonderful benefits certainly aren't.

Thank you so much for your kind words about my parents. It certainly is different with Mum each visit and Dad just amazes me. I know it's not easy for him.
